LETTER: More ‘piece’ than peace

As a veteran of Bomber Command I attended the excellent service at Beachy Head to commemorate and remember Bomber Command Aircrew who paid the ultimate sacrifice during World War 2.

The memorial is reached by means of the Peace Path. Sadly it is more of a piece path. I can only use the path in a wheel chair and even this is a hazard. The path is in a dangerous state having a wrong camber and the edges of the path are breaking away.

This is a world-renowned site and it does not show well in Eastbourne’s ability to look after this wonderful site. Surely the body responsible for this lovely spot should give this matter its urgent attention before “No win” lawyers cost more in compensation than the cost of the renovations.

John Watson,

Broad Road.
