Every week we hear the mainly negative reaction to the pier project. The way I see it is did we want the pier to get worse and worse or someone come along and buy it and bring it back to its former glory. I always smile at people bucking the consideration to charge £2 to go on the pier. They will pay more than £2 for a coffee or an ice cream without complaint, and pay to park their car on the front. We have a man who is prepared to give us our pier back and keep it in good condition, so let’s get behind him and not keep knocking everything he does such as putting up a lion sign.
