LETTER: It works well elsewhere

A cycle path linking the whole of the seafront would be an essential asset to Eastbourne, enabling us to tackle congestion, reduce pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.

It can encourage those who fear for their safety on the roads to get on a bike and improve their health and bank balance. Cycling is known to combat depression and will empower and free our children to access their schools safely from Sovereign Harbour to Meads.

The numerous seafront cycle paths I have travelled along elsewhere work harmoniously with pedestrians and the towns greatly benefited. I back this move. The negative comments on the Herald letters pages do not spring from the reality of the success of existing paths.
