It isn’t often that I feel moved to write to the press but I am spurred by a letter that appeared recently in your pages from a retired paramedic, thanking the people of Eastbourne for their consideration in making way for ambulances with sirens and blue lights flashing. I would like to thank them in return for their extremely swift response times. A few months ago I had to call for an ambulance for my husband, the paramedic was ringing the doorbell almost before I had hung up the phone. You only have to read the papers to see that in many parts of the country people can expect a wait of more than two hours for an ambulance. I am so grateful that we live in an area where we can expect swift response times.
