LETTER: Hospital staff were first class

At a time when one hears so many negative reports about the Nation Health Service, I feel I must pass on my own recent experiences.

I was admitted to the District General Hospital at Eastbourne on March 9 following a stroke, and after initial treatment and scans etc was transferred to East Dean Ward and later to Sovereign Ward. The staff on these wards, without exception, were kind and considerate and often went out of their way to make me comfortable and feel welcome.

On April 9 I was transferred to the Irvine Unit at Bexhill for rehabilitation and received equally first class treatment. I have nothing but praise for their patience and efforts to get me back on my feet, quite literally. I am now back at home and am still getting plenty of support from visiting therapists and nursing staff etc. Again I cannot speak highly enough about about the National Health Service from my own perspective.
