I am writing to thank the readers of the Eastbourne Herald for the kind words and messages so many people have sent to me since the General Election.
I’ve been genuinely touched by the kindness and appreciation of so many people. Thank you. It has been an absolute privilege for me to represent our town over the last five years.
Being the first MP to launch the 100 x 100 Apprenticeships initiative; bringing back our wonderful carnival after a gap of 15 years; working across the community fighting for our local hospital; helping secure the regeneration of our town centre; supporting the many thousands of local residents who came to me for help; and supporting so many amazing people, businesses, charities and organisations – all of this has been a joy.
We have the great good fortune to live in a wonderful town, full of folk who really care about Eastbourne. To serve you as your MP for five years has been an honour.
I wish the new MP all the very best and, all of you, my heart-felt thanks.
