I write as chair of local charity SASBAH – the Sussex Association for spina bifida and hydrocephalus – which is enjoying its 50th birthday celebrations in 2015.
For the past two weeks, we have been privileged to stage a public exhibition at the Towner Art Gallery in Eastbourne called Positive Disability: Take a Closer Look.
The purpose has been to raise awareness both of SASBAH and also of the challenges facing disabled people in today’s society. I want to thank the Worthing photographer Helen Tinner, whose fabulous portrait pictures of some of our service users were used in the displays. The other part of the exhibition was artwork created by some of our SASBAH family, and I would like to thank them all.
The Towner has been a fantastic site to showcase what we do and I also want to thank them for their co-operation and support, but most of all I want to thank everyone who came along over the duration, and also to our staff and volunteers who were present during opening times.
I am proud to be Chair of SASBAH. We support around 500 people across the county, and our 50th anniversary is developing into a truly special year.
