I was amazed to read that our council requires 18 months to refurbish the Congress Theatre. That will almost certainly extend into two years.
Are they the same ‘decision makers’ who are making us wait years for the Wish Tower Cafe replacement; paid tens of thousands of pounds for the Congress scaffolding; have walked away from the ‘treasure’ that is the Redoubt Museum yet justify the illumination of the Town Hall?
There are some loyal old supporters who will never see the Wish Tower or the Congress Theatre!
Stark contrast to the brilliant ability of contractors to carry out huge refurbishment of our railways, yet still maintain a service, and even the Arndale Centre extension is accommodating the public as it progresses.
I suspect our council has taken the cheapest/easiest quote which will afford the contractors least inconvenience – regardless of the wishes of the public and loss of revenue to hotels etc.
