LETTER: Destruction must be stopped

I have just received a remarkably trite letter addressed to ‘Dear Neighbour’ from Wates Developments telling me that they intend to develop the remaining green-belt area at Friday Street Farm between Stone Cross and Langney.

Wealden District Council has already destroyed the green-belt between Polegate and Stone Cross and now they want to progress further – solid building from Eastbourne to Pevensey. Disgraceful.

Wates promise ‘an area for a primary school’. I seem to remember this was also promised when Sovereign Harbour was proposed – still no sign and that development has almost reached Pevensey Bay!

Planning permission was turned down by Wealden after a huge local outcry in 2013 for the same green-belt area. Wealden appears to have a very short memory.

This proposed destruction of the remaining green-belt must be stopped. Wealden is ruining our countryside.
