LETTER: Democratic right to heckle

I note two academics have expressed their views of the Congress meeting on the ‘in out’ referendum. First let me say the heckling they complain of is called freedom of speech which is what a democracy is all about and it was advertised as a public debate. At no point during the meeting were the public asked to give their view.

Second, Lord Marks had more time to make his case for Remain than either of the Brexit speakers and the so-called neutral journalist was clearly Remain.

I have had many years dealing with academics and have never met one with an ounce of common sense. They believe the working people are incapable of working out what are the real issues.

People are concerned about migrants coming from Africa. Why is this? Simply because the EU will not allow them to sell their crops to them because of the Common Agricultural Policy which France controls. That is why we should leave and trade freely with all countries.

Finally, MP Caroline Ansell read the audience was overwhelmingly in favour of Brexit.
