This morning (Saturday, July 16), myself and my young family were driving along Hardwick Road and were about to reach the junction where it meets South Street. A middle aged man on a bicycle was cycling along the pavement to the right of us and almost pulled out right in front of the car.
I slammed on the brakes and luckily missed him. However, he made it clear he was annoyed, even though we’d done nothing wrong, and tried to ram the side of our car with his bike, whilst giving us nasty ‘looks’.
He then continued to speed off along the pavement, the whole time giving us nasty looks all the way up the road. He was therefore not looking where he was going.
I am a keen cyclist and cycle to work every day, but I can honestly say I would never cycle on the pavement like that and demand right of way to an oncoming car.
