The story about the funding of £250,000 for drones to aid Sussex Police in the fight against crime is all very reassuring to the public.
Sadly, whatever benefit the drones have will be negated by the courts handing out totally useless sentences to the offenders when apprehended thus making the expenditure worthless.
Every day we read of hard, dangerous work by the police being knocked into a cocked hat by some short-sighted judge. In the totally misguided practice to save prison space, yet another villain gets away with the now de rigeur ‘suspended sentence’. What an absolute farce British law has become.
The prisons are full of people serving ridiculously short sentences.
When the courts get their act together maybe we can save thousands on equipment and spend more on making prison a place of punishment and rehabilitation instead of a break from the four walls of home and hotel-like facilities.
