LETTER: Brave call for help by millions

Brexit is and Brexit will be, despite the contemptuous behaviour of numerous individuals, including many in so-called high places, who have undoubtedly forgotten the meaning of democracy.

It is incumbent upon all who have the strong desire of seeing our country go forward with a great future to cease making constant negative comments and irrational statements.

Political uncertainties were bound to arise regardless of the referendum result. The outrageous perpetration of a frenzied ‘Project Fear’ is over and it is vital that we remember that the vote for Brexit in the Midlands and the North of England was a brave call for help by millions who knew there was no other way of ensuring they would no longer be forgotten

Brexit is already reverberating throughout Western and Eastern Europe and the current intransigence and bully-boy tactics of the European Commission, European Parliament and Germany will have to cease for their benefit as well as ours. Sovereignty and democracy have to be the bulwarks of society and if these are continuously denied to any group of nations then the European Union will collapse.

Three weeks have passed and to date Armageddon is not on the horizon. Many good men have already been destroyed in fighting for a cause though some have been brought down through egotistic, unscrupulous and treacherous actions. Honesty and decency towards others will always prevail.

History will recall that June 23 2016 was indeed the beginning of a momentous change in Europe. After 43 years it was time to reshape the political landscape. Great Britain will ultimately succeed by benefitting from difficult trade and constitutional negotiations until once again the world will stand up and applaud our steadfastness and resolution and our new woman Prime Minister.
