Two years ago we moved to Coast Road in Pevensey Bay. It’s a great place to live, only blighted by the speed at which a minority of mindless morons, in cars and on motorbikes, choose to travel along it.
I have expressed my concern to East Sussex County Council before only to be told that Coast Road did not have enough ‘points’ to qualify for any ‘further’ traffic calming measures. Signs stating ‘Speed Kills’ fixed to lampposts being considered an adequate deterrent.
Since the automation of the Normans Bay rail crossing, traffic has increased and so has the speeding. This road is an accident waiting to happen.
Following the laying of a new gas main along the whole length of Coast Road, we understand that it is, not before time, to be totally re-surfaced. Surely the inclusion of some measures to slow traffic within the scope of this work is economically viable.
If there are any other residents who share my concerns I would urge you to contact the Highways Department at firstname.lastname@example.org
