In an economic climate of austerity, with more than 700 people in Eastbourne using foodbanks and countless people homeless, I find it deeply distressing that between the Chamber of Commerce, and the Borough Council and West End Studios (the lighting company concerned) it may have cost between £20,000 and £50,000 for a light show. This was blackmail money given by the Government to a marginal seat.
They should hang their heads in shame. Surely this money would have been better spent, providing low cost housing, and food, or providing refugees some accommodation, following in the footsteps of Brighton and Hove, and Crawley – instead of greedy overpriced shops reaping the benefit.
