LETTER: Beach huts our own Balamory

I’m so proud of my home town. Here are a few observations, not complaints.

It’s good to have new hoteliers in the town but they should be aware of the planning application rules – after all they are for the protection of us all.

Do we really need a ‘state of the art’ restaurant with probably prices to match? Looking at the plans, is so much glass a good idea? Cumberland Carlisle Infirmary was built in a similar style and the first summer glass bannister supports shattered due to the heat. As we are The Suntrap of the South we could be faced with a similar problem.

The Western View Cafe, and its excellent staff, although a temporary measure has done us proud. Could this not be extended or made permanent with a sun lounge added? Then maybe some money could be allocated to replacing the old toilets at the Wish Tower and the Skatepark that gives much pleasure to our younger folk and visitors. The Memorial Wall is a must.

I do hope that a rest room will be given to the bus crews in the new part of the Arndale Centre as in the old days of the bus depot. These days they need it more than ever, standing in shop doorways and facing questions all the time on their break does not seem fair.

The new beach huts opposite Princes Park look smart – we have our own Balamory! Good to see so many people enjoying our lovely area.
