I was cheered to read in last week’s Herald that the MP is calling for Eastbourne to become a unitary authority.
For too long now our town has suffered because of the mismanagement of the highly-paid leader and officers at East Sussex County Council, and I agree with Mr Lloyd that it’s about time that we took back control.
I believe that local people know what’s best for them and we certainly don’t need a chief executive earning almost £200,000 and 15 other council officers earning over £100,000 a year, whilst core services, volunteer groups, and roads fall apart.
Let’s put Eastbourne first and be a positive example in these difficult times.
