THE makeover of the Arndale Centre is great. But is it not a bit ‘samey’?
It looks like any other town centre redevelopment (see for a near equivalent High Wycombe).
What about something more iconic? What about something a bit more ‘must see’ like the Guggenheim in Bilbao?
Surely this is a unique opportunity to make Eastbourne a real attraction; a place of pilgrimage where people from elsewhere really want to come to see rather than simply retire to.
This is the 21st century. We need a ‘must see’ town centre dramatically more beautiful than other places.
What about one building by Norman Foster or Frank Gehry or Ricardo Bofill?
