Hampden Park has changed no end

When our grandchildren from Sittingbourne come to stay with us for part of the summer holiday we always visit Hampden Park.

Thanks to the efforts of the Friends of Hampden Park, Eastbourne Borough Council, and other organisations, the park has changed no end since we first moved into the area six years ago.

The Decoy Pond, arboretum, history garden and the war memorial to name but a few of the facilities have been improved considerably for the better, and the Lakeside Cafe offers good value for money.

The children’s playground has excellent equipment to keep children amused for hours, but if I may venture a word of criticism, there is only one solitary bench in the playing area for tired grandparents and parents to sit and watch their little darlings enjoying themselves!

At busy times this clearly is not enough, but I understand from the kind efforts of Pam Rollison, the “Down Your Way” correspondent for the Hampden Park area, that this situation could be changing - watch this space!
