I am responding to the heading “Sack Him,” in the Herald. The proposed changes at the Eastbourne Hospital are frightening and I deplore them.
However, this all originates from policies decided by Central Government, as we all know. These changes are happening everywhere; a friend in Canterbury tells me how their hospitals are being down-graded and patients sent over to Ashford.
The demonstrations about the Lewisham hospital made the national press. Therefore, isn’t it unfair to blame the people locally whose job it is to implement these unpopular measures?
They are surely doing the best they can. So, its all down to the Parliament in Westminster and you, Mr Lloyd and Mr Baker, are our M.P.s, our representatives in that Parliament. We are therefore looking to you for a solution.
