I agree wholeheartedly with the letter from A. Russell (Herald, November 30).

Wealden District Council Planning will not be satisfied until every blade of grass in Hellingly, Hailsham and Polegate has been built on and most of the trees destroyed.

They do not care about residents’ views or that of Town and Parish Councils. What happened to localism?

The overloading of an already struggling infrastructure does not seem to concern them.

We hear a lot about climate change and destruction of rain forests in other parts of the world, but we are doing the same thing.

Where are the wide open green spaces around these developments for our wildlife to survive?

I do worry about the legacy we are leaving for our children and grandchildren.
