I was pleased to read about discount care to give carers a little help in last week’s Herald.
But I did notice a slight error; It was reported that ‘carers save the government tens of millions of pounds each year’. The figure is actually far higher than that at £119 billion a year. Which is actually higher than is spent on the NHS each year.
I was fortunate enough last year to be invited to No.10 Downing Street during Carers week in which the Prime Minister David Cameron addressing Carers said “ the appalling financial consequences for the country if you stopped caring”.
