A young boy discovered an eight inch long cook’s knife hidden in grass outside Langney Shopping Centre on Sunday afternoon.
The youngster was with his family who, along with other shoppers, had been evacuated out of Langney Shopping Centre after fire alarms went off.
A spokesperson at Sussex Police said, “Shortly after 3.30pm on Sunday customers at the shopping centre evacuated the building after fire alarms sounded.
“They congregated on a grass area at Swanley Close while emergency services attended.
“During this time, a member of the public found an eight-inch long, stainless steel cook’s knife concealed by the grass. It was later collected by a Police Community Support Officer. There were no suspicious circumstances.”
