A charity which helps families who have lost a child over the age of 16 has received two cheques.

Mayor of Polegate David Watts and the Dickensian committee presented cheques to You Raise Me Up. The charity was founded by Fraser and Jane Brooks in June 2011 following the sudden loss of their daughter Megan. The charity’s sole purpose is to raise funds to support families that have suffered the loss of a child between the age of 16 and 25.

Jane was thrilled to receive the two cheques on behalf of the charity and said that it would go a long way to helping people, and she was particularly grateful as there were a number of people in need at the present time. The charity run a coffee shop in Millfields, Polegate, where profits go to the charity.
