The WRVS building in Eastbourne town centre could be closed as part of cuts.
The Russell Centre, on the corner of Hyde Road and Calverley Road, is being looked at by the Royal Voluntary Service’s regional office.
Director of operations for the south of England Rebecca Kennelly said today (Wednesday) the organisation was looking at how it could run services effectively but the centre could be closed.
“The well-being of older people in Eastbourne is our priority,” she said.
“We are in the process of reviewing our activities run from the Russell Centre and exploring the option of closing the centre and moving the Royal Voluntary Service run social and lunch club activities into an alternative venue.
“To extend Royal Voluntary Service’s reach in Eastbourne we have established a new community engagement project to actively develop new volunteer lead activities for older people from the Eastbourne community.”
Several clubs are run at the centre which was called the WRVS until a recent name change.
