A woman died at the cliffs near Eastbourne yesterday.

The Eastbourne volunteer lifeboat crew were called to an incident involving police last night.

A statement from the crew said they were ‘requested to launch the inshore lifeboat and tasked to assist police, local coastguards and the coastguard rescue helicopter with an incident’.

A statement from Sussex Police said, “Police responded to a report that a woman fell from a cliff near Beachy Head, Eastbourne at 5.27pm on Friday, May 14.

“Officers attended and sadly it was confirmed that the woman had died.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner’s officer has been informed.”
