Woman airlifted to hospital after fall at Cow Gap, in Eastbourne

Coastguards were sent to rescue a woman who had slipped and gotten stuck while walking along Cow Gap, in Eastbourne.

The lady rang 999 from her mobile after her fall, which happened earlier this afternoon (Monday, February 23).

Eastbourne lifeboats were also called to the scene as a precaution, but stood down after she was airlifted to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

A spokesperson from Sussex Police said, “A 20-year old woman was recovered from part way down the cliff just before 3pm and taken by Coasgtuard helicopter to the Royal Sussex County Hospital to be treated for what are understood to be minor injuries, and for a welfare assessment.”
