Police are investigating a suspected robbery at Willingdon Post Office this morning (Wednesday, January 8).
Shortly after 9am, a masked man entered the shop on Wish Hill and threatened a member of staff with a sharp instrument while demanding cash. Money was handed over and the man fled on foot.
The shop was immediately closed and police contacted.
Officers are now searching the area for the suspect, who is described as 6’, wearing a grey sweater, jeans and trainers. At the time of the incident, he was also wearing a grey beanie-style hat and a scarf or handkerchief masking his face.
The Post Office was closed in 2008 as part of government cuts and only re-opened in July 2013 after spending five years trading as a shop without postal services.
