‘Violent and unprovoked assault’ in Eastbourne

Police are appealing for witnesses after two men were assaulted in Eastbourne on Friday evening (November 13).

The victims, who are both 27-years-old and local, were walking through an alley way towards Elm Grove when they came across a group of three men at around 6.15pm.

One of the suspects asked the men for a cigarette before one of the victims was punched in the face and the other pushed to the ground. The group of three men demanded money but the victims managed to run off.

The victims described one of the suspects as around 6ft 5in, of athletic build and wearing a scarf over his face with a lower skull pattern. The group are all thought to be in their early twenties.

Detective Constable Andy Mountford-Laker said, “This was a violent and unprovoked assault.

“We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen something suspicious in the area.”
