A storm is heading towards Eastbourne this afternoon (June 5), with heavy rain also expected.
The Met Office issued a severe weather warning, and said heavy rain and thunderstorms could hit Sussex today (Friday June 5).
Lightning has been spotted heading towards the town from the east this afternoon.
Localised heavy downpours were forecast between 2am until 8pm tonight, with the added possibility of thunderstorms.
This may result in localised flooding which could cause problems on the roads overnight and into tomorrow morning.
Frequent lightning strikes could also pose a hazard.
The Met Office said there is a degree of uncertainty regarding the extent and timing of the storms so residents are advised to monitor the latest weather reports via the Met Office’s website.
