A fire has broken out in the Odyssey fish and chip restaurant in Eastbourne town centre.
Firefighters were called to the scene at around 2.40pm on Tuesday, February 24.
Eastbourne Borough fire commander Dave Sheppard said, “It appears the frying range caught light just after they’d finished lunch.
“Very quickly, we got two fire engines here from Eastbourne and then got four firefighters with breathing apparatus into the building.
“Using foam and hose reels, they managed to extinguish the fire in the frying range and although there’s been quite a lot of damage to the building, it has been contained within the fish shop area.”
The restaurant was evacuated very quickly and nobody was hurt during the blaze.
