Two cut free from wreckage after A26 crash

A man is in hospital with potential life-threatening injuries after a car crash just outside of Seaford yesterday lunchtime.

Police were called to a two-vehicle collision involving a Fiat Punto and a Hyundai on the A26 at South Heighton at around 12.55pm.

A 61-year-old male driver aged 61 and a 57-year-old female passenger had to be cut free from the wreckage of their Fiat Punto. Both were taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, with the driver having suffered potentially life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 62-year-old local woman was also taken to hospital with suspected fractures.

The road was closed for over four hours to remove the wreckage and to enable a thorough investigation by the forensic collision and reconstruction unit.
