Two Beachy Head cliff deaths are unconnected

THE BODIES of two men recovered from the foot of Beachy Head with a car have been identified but their deaths are not being linked.

The two were discovered on May 17 by the police helicopter on routine patrol.

The men have been named as Adrian Graham Piggott, 32, from Udimore, near Rye, and Christopher Stallard, 51, from Northumberland Avenue, New Barnet in Hertfordshire.

A Volvo was also found at the foot of cliffs and there was evidence that the car had been driven over the grass verge and through a gate before plunging over the notorious suicide spot.

The two bodies, one which was part way down the cliff, were around 500 metres west of the lighthouse.

A police spokesperson has confirmed there is no link between the two deaths.

The police are not treating the matter as suspicious and the coroner’s officer is continuing her enquiries.
