Trust helping youngsters fighting cancer

THE TEENAGER Cancer Trust is inviting Eastbourne residents to attend a special event next month to find out more about the charity and ways they could help young people living across East Sussex fight cancer.

The Meet Teenage Cancer Trust event will be held on Tuesday July 5 from 6.30pm to 8pm at the Grand Hotel.

The event is free to attend and will be an opportunity to meet staff and hear about exciting plans for the charity in the East Sussex area.

The charity is hoping to form a volunteer fundraising group in Eastbourne to help raise money for the building and equipping of a new Teenage Cancer Trust unit at the Royal Marsden in Surrey.

Due to open later this year, the 13-bed unit with en-suite facilities will cost Teenage Cancer Trust more than £3 million to build and means for the first time, young cancer patients living across East Sussex will be treated with others their own age, in a suitable environment.

This unit will also complement the existing 17 the charity has already built in NHS hospitals across the UK.
