Members of the town’s five Rotary clubs presented cheques to both local and national charities at the Brewers Home store in Eastbourne following 2015’s Tree of Light event.
The charities receiving cheques on the day were Children’s Respite Trust, Cruse Bereavement Care, Embrace, Riding for the Disabled Association, and the Salvation Army. A total of £7,500 was donated, the largest sum that the Tree of Light project has raised to date.
Each Christmas, the Rotary Clubs of Eastbourne come together and organise a special Christmas tree, situated outside the Congress Theatre. The tree is decorated with white lights and each one dedicated to the memory of a loved one.
Brewers, along with several other local companies, sponsors the Tree of Light project.
