The charities receiving cheques on the day were Children’s Respite Trust, Cruse Bereavement Care, Embrace, Riding for the Disabled Association, and the Salvation Army. A total of £7,500 was donated, the largest sum that the Tree of Light project has raised to date.

Each Christmas, the Rotary Clubs of Eastbourne come together and organise a special Christmas tree, situated outside the Congress Theatre. The tree is decorated with white lights and each one dedicated to the memory of a loved one.
