The council has pinned a ‘notice of direction to leave’ on the field’s gate but tells the group they must leave by 11am on Tuesday.

An Eastbourne Borough Council spokesperson added, “Four caravans and four vehicles arrived at Westlords Sports Ground, off Willingdon Road, Eastbourne, on Saturday (September 8).

“We have visited the site and issued a notice giving them until 11am tomorrow (Tuesday) to leave when they will be given the option of going to East Sussex County Council’s dedicated transit site at Bridies Tan, near Lewes.”
