Four cars with caravans are parked in Westlords playing field, off Willingdon Road. They moved into the site on Saturday night (September 8) and were told to leave by 11am this morning (Tuesday, September 11).

Police and Eastbourne Borough Council attended the scene over the weekend and the council has pinned a ‘notice of direction to leave’ on the field’s gate, insisting they leave by 11am on Tuesday.

However, an Eastbourne Borough Council spokesperson said this morning that the travellers had not left.

She added that police have served a Section 62a notice on the travellers to leave by 2pm. They have been given the option of going to East Sussex County Council’s dedicated transit site at Bridies Tan, near Lewes.
