Police were called to an incident near The Crumbles retail park in Eastbourne last night (March 30).
Emergency services were called shortly before 6pm after lorry began leaking fuel along the A259 Pevensey Bay Road, said Sussex Police.
Police and fire crews were called to the scene and the road was closed for some time.
Highways teams arrived shortly afterwards to clear the carriageway and make the area safe.
