Storm Ciara: A259 closed due to fallen tree

The A259 has been closed this evening due to a fallen tree.

The road is closed both ways between Friston Pond and East Dean, said police.

Emergency services are on scene and people are being asked to avoid the area after the incident at around 5pm.

This comes after Storm Ciara unleashed 70-80mph winds and driving rain across Eastbourne on Sunday (February 9) – with the effects still being felt today.

A section of the fire-ravaged Claremont Hotel collapsed and emergency services were called to Langney Shopping Centre, which had problems with its roof.
