Road blocked off near Eastbourne after collision

A traffic collision has caused a road between Eastbourne and Seaford to be blocked off this morning (Wednesday).

The A259 at Exceat, near to The Cuckmere Inn, has been blocked since 7am after a collision between a car and a bus, according to reports on Twitter.

BBC Sussex provided a latest update on Twitter at 7.55am. They said, “Update regarding the A259 in Seaford / Exceat- the westbound carriageway is now open, but callers are still saying that eastbound is blocked.”

Reports on Twitter also say Brighton and Hove Buses coastal services are being diverted via the A27.

Sussex Traffic Watch said on Twitter at 7am, “Road traffic collision reported as ongoing at A259 at Exceat near Seaford - road remains blocked. Brighton and Hove Buses coastal services between Eastbourne and Seaford currently diverted via the A27.”

Southern Rail said on Twitter they are accepting bus tickets between Eastbourne and Brighton.
