Rail services were unable to call at Polegate after a power cut just after 5pm at the station, Southern Rail said.

At 5.38pm, trains were able to call at Polegate as normal, but the rail operator said trains at the station may be cancelled or delayed until 7pm (December 3) as a result of the earlier power cut.

During the incident, a Southern Rail spokesperson said: “A localised power issue has occurred at Polegate station, which is also affecting the station lighting. As a result, services are unable to call at this location until the lighting can be restored as this is required for services to be safely dispatched from this station.

“Electricians are currently enroute to site and on arrival, will perform a full assessment of the fault and perform and neccesary repairs required in order to restore lighting to the station.”
