Eastbourne teenager dies in car crash

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, Sussex Police and an air ambulance were called to the incident on the A259 between East Dean and Exceat at around 9.30pm on Saturday (May 30).

A Sussex Police spokesperson said, “Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenager sadly died in an East Dean collision.

“Officers were called to the A259 between East Dean and Exceat at 9.25pm on Saturday (May 30) after a grey Toyota Aygo was involved in a single vehicle collision.

“Sadly, the 17-year-old driver, was pronounced dead at the scene. An 18-year-old woman, a passenger in the car, suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

“If anyone witnessed the collision or has any dash cam footage of the car prior please report online or call 101 quoting Operation Kingshill.”

A fire service spokesperson said, “We can confirm we went to the scene at 9.33pm on the A259 near Friston. Crews assisted police and ambulance on the scene.

“The car left the road. No other vehicles were involved. Police are investigating.”
