COUNTY NEWS: Elderly pair believed to have died in bungalow blaze

The elderly occupants of a bungalow in Chidham are believed to be the victims of the fatal fire this morning (Saturday February 6).

Police are investigating the cause of the blaze, which took hold at the property in Maybush Drive at about 8.45am.

Detective chief inspector Mike Ashcroft from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime team said: “Two people, believed to be the occupants of the house both in their 90s, have sadly died.

“An investigation is underway to how the fire started which at this stage is unexplained.”
