TRAIN CHAOS UPDATE: ‘Emergency engineering works’ causing delays at Haywards Heath

Severe disruptions are still being reported to trains travelling to and from Haywards Heath this evening (Wednesday May 20).

A statement on the Southern Rail website said ‘emergency engineering works’ currently being carried out near Haywards Heath station were the reason for the delays.

Earlier the rail service provider said a broken rail was the cause of the problem.

Trains are now able to operate South of the station but services are still being subject to alterations delays and cancellations

Southern Rail said, “Owing to emergency engineering works at Haywards Heath services are now able to operate south from Haywards Heath, but at a reduced speed.

“Services are subject to short notice alterations, cancellations and delays of up to 30 minutes.

Buses are supplementing the train service between Haywards Heath and Brighton.

Tickets are being accepted on Southeastern, South West Trains, First Great Western and London Underground

“Mutual ticket acceptance is in place between Southern and Thameslink.”
