Motorcyclist seriously injured in A22 collision

A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a collision involving two cars on the A22 near Hailsham on Saturday morning (March 12).

Emergency services were called to the scene near the Woodside Depot just south of Hailsham at 11.01am.

The 45-year-old rider of the black Harley Davidson was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with serious leg injuries. A 76-year-old man from Eastbourne who was driving a silver Chevrolet Lacetti sport was slightly injured.

The 27-year-old driver of a red Mini One also involved in the incident was uninjured.

The southbound carriageway of the A22 was closed until just after 3pm while rescue and recovery work took place.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to email [email protected] or call 101 quoting Operation Buckhurst.
