Officers investigating the death of a woman who was hit by a train are not treating the incident as suspicious, British Transport Police (BTP) has confirmed.
A BTP spokesman said officers were called to Hampden Park station shortly after 1am on Saturday (December 8) following reports that a person had been struck by a train.
The spokesman added: “Paramedics also attended, but sadly a 39-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
A spokesman for Network Rail said all 60 passengers on board the Southern train were evacuated onto the platform at Hampden Park following the incident.
The Network Rail spokesman added: “There was one carriage which was level with the platform so the police were able to evacuate the train quite easily.”
