Town’s brochure scoops a national tourism accolade

Eastbourne Holiday Guide received a top accolade last week as the 2014 brochure scooped second place at a national tourism awards ceremony.

The British Resorts and Destinations Association annual awards select the best marketing by destinations and travel companies across the UK, with Eastbourne this year awarded second in class in the highly sought after Brochure Cover of the Year category.

The 56-page glossy brochure, which launched in January, has seen an increase in demand this year, with more than 42,000 dropping through people’s doors in the first few months and 25,000 distributed through Tourist Information Centres across the country and overseas, as well as an online version.

Coupled with a holiday guide advertising campaign, the brochure has picked up new audiences this year with an impressive 89 per cent of requests coming from new visitors to Eastbourne.

Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism, Leisure & Sports Services, Cllr Carolyn Heaps, said, “The Eastbourne Holiday Guide is an important shop window for our town, both in attracting new visitors and showcasing the many hotels, attractions, shops, restaurants and places to visit. It is essential we present a quality image, so I am delighted that our industry peers have voted our guide to be one of the top two in the country.”

Using an array of photography from local enthusiasts, the brochure gives a genuine and authentic flavour of Eastbourne. Themed spreads present a range of holiday ideas from harbour side fun to retail therapy and a four page spread on events picks out highlights from the what’s on calendar.
