Town projects get council cash help

A number of improvements are being made across the town, thanks to funding from the Devolved Budget Scheme.

Hampden Park councillors Jim Murray, Mike Thompson and Pat Hearn donates £350 to the Eastbourne Open Award Centre which supports and promotes the Duke of Edinburgh Awards and will be used to buy equipment for young people participating in the expedition section of their award.

Community volunteers were also given £500 for the planting of flower boxes in Hampden Park shopping centre, the Princess Diana Memorial Garden and the railway station. Hampden Park Community Centre was also awarded £865 to refurbish its lobby.

In Old Town, funds were needed to help set up Here4U, a drop-in centre for local people which will work towards transforming and regenerating the community and councillors John Ungar, Carolyn Heaps and Janet Coles donated £2,400.
