Town has fewest job seekers since 2007

Stephen Lloyd MP welcomed news that unemployment figures have dropped yet again in Eastbourne and Willingdon.

According to data released this week by the Office of National Statistics, the number of unemployment claimants in Eastbourne is down to only three per cent; lower than it has been at any point since December 2007.

Eastbourne and Willingdon MP Stephen Lloyd said, “This is absolutely tremendous news and I am delighted at these figures.

“The town has worked incredibly hard over the last few years to get through the recession.

“Launching our apprenticeship campaign so quickly after the General Election in 2010 gave us real momentum, ensuring that Eastbourne really is now leading the way on employment and enterprise compared to pretty much any other coastal town in the UK. “
